College Football

By Orblover · Sunday, September 27th, 2009 · 1 Comment »

Ah, the season is upon us!  Of course, since Luis is very interested in pursuing excellence on the college gridiron, I find myself forced to ‘research’ the subject.  And, oh what a season it has been so far.  It doesn’t pay to be a top 5 team (nor top 10 this week).  I’m just hoping after my Yellow Jackets whomping of UNC today, that we at least move back into the top 25.

Update on R&L.  I have a chapter ready to post, sort of.  I need to get two more chapters at least through rough draft before I publish it.  Too many things relate and I want to ensure all the details are correct.  More as I get closer.

I’m also working with someone very close to me on a novel.  It has been around for a while, but recent interest has inspired some serious rewriting.  The first 6 chapters should be published and done soon allowing me to focus more attention on R&L and a couple of other short, short stories.

Until later!

Screenplays

By Orblover · Thursday, July 16th, 2009 · No Comments »

I’m currently working on three screenplays, each in a different phase of writing.  Awaiting a long needed rewrite is one under another pen name.  I plan on tackling this later in the year.  “Parker’s Perfect Pizza” (based on the Lazlo Zalezac’s “The Millionaire Next Door”) is in edit/rewrite.  And, I’m in the early development of “Paddling Upstream” by J. Strickland.

After these three, I’m thinking about tackling Strickland’s Cuba Stories and calling it “Cuba Libre”.  It’s an idea at this point.  I’d love to do R&L, but it would be unmarketable (underage nudity and such).

Back to R&L, PU, PPP, and others!

R&L Update

By Orblover · Thursday, July 16th, 2009 · No Comments »

Chapter 24 is complete, I’m just holding off on publishing it until I finish solidifying somethings in chapter 25.

The title of 25 is “Don Sanche”, sometimes called “The Castle of Love”.  It is supposedly Franz Listz’s only opera.   The chapter is fully plotted out, just looking for the right opening scene.  I’ve written around 10 different beginnings and have promptly rejected them the next day.

The good news is I’ve decided on an opening scene.  Now all I have to do is write it!  The rest of the chapter will flow easily from that (famous last words!).

So, instead of blathering on in this blog, I’m going back to writing.

Huge-midity

By Orblover · Sunday, June 28th, 2009 · No Comments »

It’s summer and I’m in the South.  That can only mean one thing.  Huge-midity.  I’ve been places that have humidity.  Even bad humidity.  In the Southern US we get something unique that I can only call Huge-midity.

Yesterday was another perfect Southern day.  Double 90s and triple-h.  For the novices, that’s the temperature in the 90s F, the relative humidity in the 90s, and hot-hazy-humid.  A perfect day to test out the best of Carrier, York, Trane, and all the other manufacturers of air conditioning.

So, what did I do?  Let my wife talk me into visiting a Civil War battlefield.  In the afternoon.  And walk around.  Outdoors.

Hey, no one has ever accused me of being sane!

Today was spent watching a great soccer match.  In doors.  In the air conditioning.  It was a great match until the very end, that is.  Damn, the US looked good for the first 45 minutes.  Not bad for the next 30 minutes.  Then…

New Project

By Orblover · Sunday, June 14th, 2009 · No Comments »

“Parker’s Perfect Pizza” is still around.  It will be a while before I tackle it again.  I’ve managed to “trim” the screenplay to 300 and some pages, which is not nearly short enough.

So, to help me with it and tackle something easier (in length), I’m working on “Paddling Upstream” by Strickland83.  The story has 90 some scenes, which is about right for a screenplay.  It has multiple, interwoven plotlines, which will make it interesting, and clearly defined “tipping points” – climactic moments.

At the moment, I’m working on an outline of the screenplay and plan on presenting my concepts to Strick in the next few days.  I’ll keep you appraised!

R&L Update

By Orblover · Sunday, June 14th, 2009 · No Comments »

Chapter 23 is done and is with the editing team.  I’m hard at work on chapter 24.  I won’t be releasing 23 until I finish the first draft of 24 since they are closely tied to each other.

Thanks for all the positive feedback on chapter 22!  And for the people I lost because of Rosalee…  Sorry.  I wish you would stick around to the end.  Things may not be as they seem.

Thanks again!

Chapter 22 Released

By Orblover · Friday, May 29th, 2009 · No Comments »

Finally, chapter 22 sees the light of day!  This was a tough chapter to write on many different levels.  Yet, alas, it is done.

An update on chapter 23 (already): it is halfway done.  As in, half the first draft is complete.  As soon as I can get past one particular scene, the rest should flow fairly quickly.  This chapter, for the most part, does follow the title: “Take it Easy”!

Enjoy 22.  Remember, I really love feedback.  Good or bad (always prefer good, but bad helps me grow).

Chapter 22 Redux and Chapter 23

By Orblover · Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 · No Comments »

Chapter 22 is still lost in the grand cycle of editing and proof reading.  One of my MIAs has returned to the world, kinda.  Still waiting for his invaluable input before putting it out.

Now, a HUGE concern.  I don’t want to put a chapter out and have Nick put a chapter out the same day or the day after.  Call me paranoid.  I’d like to have a few days of clear air and Nick is gearing up for a chapter release.  Deja Vu all over again.  My last few chapters have run into this.  Yes, he and I have conversed and we are attempting to coordinate, but both having “lost in editing” issues.  So, again, I’ll put it out when it happens regardless.  I’ll just keep thinking “Skip Niccio” – thanks Wine Maker for that image.

Chapter 23 is more than halfway through the first draft and I’ve run into something new.  Rosalee wants to have a voice.  Don’t get me wrong, I love Rosa.  She’s a very special person that showed up at an interesting point in R&L’s relationship.  She’s key for the week in many ways.  Should I give her a voice?

No matter what I decide, she’s already written passages and scenes.  Now I have to choose to include it for everyone to read.  One way or another, I’ll still love Rosa and hope you will as well.

Back to chunking chapters!
